I have been living in India for almost 2 years, this year I made Ganesha amigurumi dolls to decorate my house and my husband’s family in Ganpati Chaturthi. Today I will share with you my Lord Ganesha free crochet pattern, as well as the free video tutorial on my Youtube channel.
The doll is small (12cm) but worthy to make, and you can adjust the size by using other types of yarns. This is the second version of my 2in1 Ganesha amigurumi pattern. The other version is baby crochet Ganpati with legs and two small hair buns, you can find the pattern in my shops.

Who is Ganesha?
As I am a daughter-in-law of India and a Hindu family, I think I need to introduce a bit about Lord Ganesha. Ganesha, also spelled Ganesh, also called Ganapati, elephant-headed Hindu god of beginnings, who is traditionally worshipped before any major enterprise and is the patron of intellectuals, bankers, scribes, and authors. In India, Ganesha is one of the most favorite God among people, who is also considered as a God of knowledge and an obstacle remover.
During Ganpati (Ganapathi) Chaturthi, people make huge and beautiful Ganesha statues in different forms and perform on the streets or temples. People sing, dance, and worship the god for a few days before dipping the clay statues into the rivers. The festival is extremely fun and meaningful. I still remember the first time I was there in India during Ganpati, those days became unforgettable moments of my life.
